Darjeeling Tourism - Places To Visit, Tourist Attractions in Darjeeling

Darjeeling also known as the land of the thunderbolts is a small town in West Bengal, India. Development of the town dates back to the mid-19th century, when the British set up a sanatorium and a military depot. Subsequently, extensive tea plantations were established in the region, and tea growers developed distinctive hybrids of black tea and created new fermenting techniques. A great way to spend a day is to take a share-jeep to Ghoom (the next town up the ridge), visit some monasteries there and walk back to Darjeeling via some of the villages.
